The construction of the Hongsa Integrated Knowledge Museum in Hongsa District is 45 per cent complete. This is the frist Integrated Knowledge Museum in the district and will be used to keep and display historical objects found in the construction site of the Hongsa Mine Mouth Power Project and from other sites within the district.
The construction cost of the Museum was more than 1.4 billion kip (about US$ 175,000) and was supported by Hongsa power company limited.
The Souvannalith Construction Company began construction last November and expects to complete construction within six months.
In the concession agreement, it is stated that "The physical cultural resources in project affected areas are to be excavated, studied, moved, documented, and certified by the Department of National Heritage, and Hongsa Integrated Knowledge Museum has to be constructed by the Hongsa Power Company to preserve those resources.
