Hongsa Power and EGAT Sign MOU to Advance Academic Cooperation, Enhance Knowledge and Capabilities, and Drive the Energy Sector Towards Security and Sustainability

On 28 August 2026, Hongsa Power Company Limited and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) jointly held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony at the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Lao PDR, to further strengthen academic cooperation between the two organizations. H.E. Mr. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR, kindly honored the ceremony as a witness.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Kathayuth Chupoon, Managing Director of Hongsa Power Company Limited; Ms. Thaweewan Danwilai, Deputy Governor – Fuel; and Mr. Suchat Tunkaew, Assistant Governor – Mae Moh Mine, together with executives and representatives from EGAT and Hongsa Power Company Limited.

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding marks the continuation and further enhancement of academic cooperation between the two organizations through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and information in the energy sector, particularly in coal mining and resource management. The collaboration aims to develop personnel capabilities, enhance operational efficiency, and translate knowledge into practical applications in a tangible and effective manner.

Mr. Kathayuth Chupoon, Managing Director of Hongsa Power Company Limited, said, *“This collaboration represents another important step in continuing our academic cooperation and provides an opportunity for both organizations to exchange, learn from, and further develop the knowledge and experience gained from actual operations. The cooperation covers various areas, including coal mining, power plant operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental management. These exchanges will help strengthen our personnel capabilities, enhance working practices, and improve organizational readiness in response to future changes in the energy sector. It will also enable us to contribute to strengthening the energy security of both Lao PDR and Thailand.”*
