Committee Meeting on Resettlement, Relocation, and Livelihood Restoration for People Affected by the Hongsa Thermal Power Project
On 13 May 2026, Mr. Kathayuth Chupoon, Managing Director of Hongsa Power Company Limited (HPC), together with the company’s executives, attended the Committee Meeting on Resettlement, Relocation, and Livelihood Restoration for People Affected by the Hongsa Thermal Power Project. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Boutsakhone Inthalangsy, Vice Governor of Xayaboury Province, and held at the Department of Industry and Commerce, Xayaboury Province.
The meeting was convened to review and report on the progress of the Hongsa Thermal Power Project’s commitments regarding resettlement, relocation, and livelihood restoration for affected communities. Particular attention was given to the ongoing development and livelihood improvement initiatives implemented for residents of Nakaenkham Village, Hongsa District, Xayaboury Province, which have been continuously carried out from the past to the present. In addition, the meeting provided an update on the progress of resettlement and livelihood restoration activities for communities located within the newly granted concession area in Kiou Ngiu Village, Ngeun District, Xayaboury Province.
These efforts reflect the Project’s commitment to improving the quality of life of local communities while advancing project development in a responsible manner. The Project places strong emphasis on stakeholder participation, transparency in operations, and the creation of stable and sustainable livelihoods for communities in the project area. Through these initiatives, the Project continues to support balanced and sustainable economic and social development in Xayaboury Province.
