Amid the grand atmosphere of the 19th Xayabouly Elephant Festival, held from 9–16 February 2026 at the Provincial Ground in Xayabouly Province, with the official opening ceremony on 14 February 2026, Hongsa Power Company Limited, led by Mr. Kathayuth Chupoon, Managing Director, together with the company’s executives and employees, participated in the opening ceremony alongside senior leaders of the Lao PDR, representatives from government agencies, private sector organizations, and a large number of attendees.
A key highlight of this year’s celebration was Hongsa Power’s participation as part of the Hongsa District parade, presenting a specially designed parade float celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Hongsa Thermal Power Plant Project. The float was elegantly designed to symbolize energy security, development, and strong collaboration growing alongside the community under the theme:
“10 Years of the Hongsa Thermal Power Plant Project – Preserving Traditions, Advancing Development, and Growing with the Community.”
Over the past decade, the Hongsa Thermal Power Plant Project has played a vital role in strengthening energy security while simultaneously creating employment opportunities, generating income, supporting education, developing infrastructure, and promoting environmental stewardship. These efforts reflect the project’s commitment to growing together with the people of Hongsa District and Xayabouly Province.
On this occasion, the company also supported the festival through financial contributions for event organization, public relations activities, and the conservation of Lao elephants, totaling over 70 million kip. In addition, Hongsa Power set up a booth to showcase and sell agricultural and handicraft products from members of the Hongsa Agricultural Promotion Cooperative, helping promote community income and local economic development.
This participation reflects the role of Hongsa Power as “Energy Growing with the Community,” continuing to move forward alongside local communities, cultural heritage, and the sustainable development of Xayabouly Province.
