Since 2008, HPC has continually measured and monitored environmental data at Hongsa District and Ngern District. The results are detailed as follows:
Hongsa District
- PM10 samplers were installed and operated since July 2011 at 6 locations. These samplers will be handed over to GoL after completion of the Continuously Air Quality Monitoring Station (AQMS) installation.
- Noise 5 locations (August 2010) – Permanent sound level measure instruments are installed to monitor at the receptors near power plant and mine activities.
Quarterly Monitoring
- Air Quality: Total Suspended Particulate (TSP), Particulate matter less than 10 micron (PM10), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Wind Direction (WD),Wind Speed (WS) – 4 locations
- Noise and Vibration - 4 locations
- Ground Water - 8 locations
- Surface Water - 16 locations
- Water Supply – 3 locations
Three continuous Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AQMS) were installed and started monitoring for the particulate matter less than 10 micron (PM10), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Oxide of Nitrogen (NOx), Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Temperature, Relative Humidity, and Barometric Pressure; and shall continue operating throughout the Concession Period.
Ngern District
Monitoring was conducted twice a year. (2009)
- Air Quality: Total Suspended Particulate (TSP), Particulate matter less than 10 micron (PM10),Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Wind Direction (WD), Wind Speed (WS) - 3 locations
- Noise and Vibration - 3 locations
- Surface Water - 3 locations
