The responsibility of HPC for the construction of the project’s transmission lines only covers areas in Lao PDR. The construction of transmission lines from the Thai border to Mae Moh in Lampang province is under the responsibility of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The Thai laws require industrial operators to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Social Impact Assessment (SIA) prior to any construction. Thus, we believe that the EGAT has conducted such assessment, and the assessment results have to be proposed to a specific committee for approval, before construction could begin.
